Dom Joseph B. Bulan, SJ, chanced upon songwriting during his earlier months as a Jesuit novice in Sacred Heart Novitiate in Novaliches. Most of his compositions were the fruits of his prayer. However, his love for music and singing began much earlier — specifically, as a cantor during daily Mass in the Ateneo Grade School, after his music teacher in Grade 2 saw him attending the Eucharist regularly. Since then, music has been an important part of his vocation. Before entering the Society of Jesus, he was part of the Ateneo College Glee Club, and the Ateneo Chamber Singers. Now as a Jesuit, he looks up to Fr. Eduardo Hontiveros, SJ, Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ, Fr. Arnel Aquino, SJ, and the other Jesuit composers as his inspiration in making music, all for the greater glory of God.
