KEEP THE FAITH: DAILY MASS WITH THE JESUITS
During the grim days following Metro Manila’s strict lockdown in March 2020, Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM launched one of its most celebrated programs, “Keep the Faith: Daily Mass for Hope and Healing.” On March 19, the feast of St. Joseph, the Ateneo de Manila campus radio aired its first live daily Mass, which quickly garnered strong support from its growing virtual parish. Led by JesCom Executive Director Fr. Nono Alfonso SJ, with creative set design by Fr. Jason Dy SJ, this initiative revived the Ateneo Campus Ministry’s halted efforts due to the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), uniting people in prayer through the airwaves.
Originally called “Keeping the Faith: Daily Mass for Difficult Times,” the program expanded to include not only daily Masses but also special activities for Lent and Holy Week, such as retreats, Visita Iglesia, and the Veneration of the Cross. Through these broadcasts, Radyo Katipunan allowed Filipino Catholics to participate from the safety of their homes, in line with its mission of media evangelization and public service. The show became a symbol of spiritual resilience, offering comfort and connection amid the isolation brought by the pandemic.
As it approaches its fifth year, “Keep the Faith” remains a cornerstone of Radyo Katipunan’s mission, now known as “Keep the Faith: Daily Mass with the Jesuits.” Each Mass, presided over by Jesuit priests, continues to renew and strengthen the spiritual journey of its viewers, bringing them closer to God’s love in difficult times. Beyond the daily Eucharist, Radyo Katipunan remains a vital source of information, public service, and spiritual and psychological support, reflecting its commitment to serving the community’s needs.
