As the Church now enters the season of Advent—a time of hopeful waiting and joyful expectation—the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM) shares a special gift with listeners in the Philippines and around the world.

Beginning this week and running until December 14th, JMM takes over Spotify’s Papuri Playlist, curating a heartfelt collection of Christmas songs to guide the faithful toward the celebration of Christ’s birth.

The Papuri Playlist, Spotify’s central hub for Filipino inspirational and religious music, previously featured JMM during Holy Week 2025, where the spotlight was placed on the timeless hymns of Fr. Eduardo P. Hontiveros, SJ, regarded as the “Father of Filipino Liturgical Music.”

This collaboration—made possible through Spotify and FUGA Southeast Asia—brought classics like “Papuri sa Diyos,” “Pananagutan,” and “Magnificat (Ang Puso Ko’y Nagpupuri)” to a wider global audience.

In anticipation of Christmas, JMM makes a festive return with a new, joy-filled curation.

A Celebration of Filipino Christmas Music

For this latest takeover, JMM highlights 29 Christmas tracks from some of the country’s most beloved inspirational groups and artists, including:

  • Bukas Palad Music Ministry
  • Hangad
  • Koro Ilustrado
  • Ateneo Chamber Singers
  • Michael Shimamoto & Where’s the Sheep?
  • Arman Ferrer
  • Erik Santos

These tracks—ranging from solemn, prayerful hymns to festive choral anthems—invite listeners to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the true significance of Christmas.

Music That Leads the Heart to Prayer

“This playlist is our way of accompanying people in their spiritual preparation for Christmas,” shared JMM Director Lester Mendiola. “Whether someone is commuting, working, or praying at home, we hope these songs offer moments of peace, gratitude, and joyful anticipation.”

Indeed, this second takeover of Spotify’s Papuri Playlist underscores JesCom’s mission of media evangelization, bringing faith-centered content to digital spaces where more people can encounter God in their everyday routines.

A Gift to Share This Season

Listeners are encouraged to follow, stream, and share the playlist—helping spread Filipino sacred music to families, communities, and individuals who need encouragement and hope this season.

As we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ, may these melodies remind us of God’s nearness, the light that breaks into the darkness in our midst, and the enduring joy of Christmas.
