JesCom and JMM express gratitude to Spotify for curating and supporting this liturgical collection
As Holy Week invites us into deeper prayer and reflection, the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM) encourages listeners to immerse themselves in the rich spiritual legacy of Fr. Eduardo Hontiveros, SJ, Father of Filipino Liturgical Music, through the newly curated “Papuri Playlist” on Spotify.

Now available for streaming, this special playlist features Fr. Honti’s most beloved hymns that shaped how generations of Filipinos worship. With timeless classics like Papuri sa Diyos, Pananagutan, Magnificat (Ang Puso Ko’y Nagpupuri), and more, the playlist offers a perfect companion for prayer, meditation, and celebration this Holy Week and beyond.

A Legacy That Lives On
The launch of the “Papuri Playlist” also echoes JMM’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of liturgical music composers through PURIHI’T PASALAMATAN: The Fr. Eduardo Hontiveros, SJ Liturgical Music Songwriting Competition.
With just weeks remaining before the submission deadline, the competition invites both amateur and professional songwriters to compose original liturgical music for the Holy Mass. Inspired by the seven Catholic Social Teachings, this nationwide initiative encourages works in Filipino and local languages—ensuring that the spirit of Fr. Honti’s accessible and relatable sacred music continues to thrive through the next generation.
Entries are due this May, with finalists to be announced on June 20, 2025. A grand prize of ₱100,000 awaits the winning entry.
Continue the mission. Be part of the song.
Let the “Papuri Playlist” accompany your Holy Week journey—and consider offering your own voice to the next chapter of Filipino liturgical music.
