As we prepare to welcome 2025, the Jesuit Communications Foundation (JesCom) proudly unveils the Official Calendar of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus. Next year’s calendar, entitled “Pilgrims of Hope,” is a special commemorative edition, celebrating the 45th Anniversary of the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation, Inc. (JVPFI) and embracing the global Catholic community’s observance of the Year of Jubilee: Pilgrims of Hope, as declared by His Holiness, Pope Francis.
The 2025 calendar is dedicated to recognizing the remarkable journey of the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation, Inc. (JVPFI), an organization that has, for 45 years, devoted itself to nation-building by recruiting, training, and sending volunteers to serve marginalized communities across the Philippines. Since its founding in 1980, JVPFI has grown from a small group of 11 volunteers to an expansive network that has deployed over a thousand volunteers to 317 partner institutions nationwide. Guided by the principles of Ignatian spirituality, these volunteers have worked tirelessly in roles such as teachers, community organizers, and development officers, always with a deep commitment to social justice, service, and solidarity.
The theme of this year’s calendar not only celebrates JVPFI’s significant milestone but also aligns with the Year of Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope. Pope Francis has called on all Catholics to renew their hope in Christ and to walk as pilgrims of hope, united in faith and trust in God’s enduring love. This Jubilee year encourages reflection, renewal, and a collective journey towards a brighter future, embodying the message of hope that is at the core of the Catholic faith.
Each month of the 2025 calendar is thoughtfully curated to highlight JVPFI’s enduring impact over the decades, featuring inspiring quotes from JVPFI alumni who have made significant contributions to society. These reflections serve as a testament to the lasting influence of JVPFI, not only on the communities it serves but also on the lives of the volunteers themselves, who carry forward the values of service, spirituality, and social justice in their personal and professional lives.
Accompanying these reflections are carefully selected photos that visually narrate the history and legacy of the JVPFI batches throughout the years. These images capture moments of service, camaraderie, and spiritual growth, offering a glimpse into the transformative experiences that define the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation, Inc.
Additionally, the calendar dedicates each month to a special prayer intention, inviting the faithful to join in prayerful solidarity with the broader Catholic community. These prayer intentions reflect the spirit of the Jubilee Year, encouraging hope, unity, and a deepened commitment to the mission of the Church.
The synergy between JVPFI’s 45th Anniversary and the Year of Jubilee presents a unique opportunity to celebrate the shared mission of fostering hope and transformation. The 2025 calendar stands as a symbol of this mission, reminding us of the powerful legacy of Jesuit volunteerism and the hopeful pilgrimage we undertake together in this Jubilee Year.
As we journey through 2025, may this calendar serve as a source of inspiration, guiding us to live out the values of faith, service, and hope in our daily lives. Let it be a reminder of the enduring impact of the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation, Inc. and the collective hope that unites us as a community of believers in action.
