Jesuit Communications Foundation (JesCom) is excited to announce the upcoming JesCom Fair 2024, themed “EMPOWER.” This eagerly anticipated event will be held on August 10th, 2024, at the Gateway 1 Mall Activity Center, Araneta City, Cubao. Building on the success of last year’s “CONNECT” JesCom Fair, “EMPOWER” aims to further inspire and equip young people to harness digital platforms for evangelization and community building.
Equipping the Youth for the Digital Age
“EMPOWER” specifically targets youth groups from parishes within the Diocese of Cubao and Archdiocese of Manila, along with their respective Social Communications Commissions. The whole-day fair promises a lineup of engaging activities designed to galvanize and hone attendees for the mission of digital evangelization:
- Morning Activities (Opens at 10am): Apart from the active presence of JesCom units like JesCom Films, Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM), JesCom Online Shop (JOSH), and Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM, another key attraction is the “Honti@100” exhibit and tribute to the “Father of Filipino Liturgical Music,” Fr. Eduardo Hontiveros, SJ, who marked his Centennial Birth Anniversary this year. Completing the promotional videos, fun games, and exciting giveaways, is the interactive “Wall of Empowerment,” sure to generate new buzz and insightful conversations from visitors.
- “The Life of Catholic Media Influencers” (1:30pm-2:30pm): Join an inspiring conversation with the hosts of the beloved prayer program “Kape’t Pandasal.” Fr. Nono Alfonso, SJ (JesCom Executive Director), Ms. Rissa Singson-Kawpeng (Editorial Consultant, Shepherd’s Voice Publications), and Fr. Jboy Gonzales, SJ (Director of Ignatian Spirituality and Formation Office, Ateneo de Davao University) will share their experiences and insights on using media to empower young people in their faith journey.
- Digital Media Workshop (3:30pm-5pm): Here’s the chance to learn valuable skills from industry experts! This workshop will equip attendees with practical knowledge on promoting prayer and faith through digital media. Mr. Bernz Caasi, the Content Lead of Hallow App PH, will discuss utilizing digital tools for prayer promotion, while Fr. Jboy Gonzales, SJ (Best Instagram 2023: Catholic Social Media Awards) will delve into leveraging social media for faith-based content.
Shortly thereafter comes the much-awaited launch of JesCom Youth (JY), JesCom’s spirited initiative towards community-building amongst the younger generation, enlivening them to become partners in the mission of evangelization. Primary objectives, the overarching mission and vision, as well as the available membership benefits of JesCom Youth (JY) will also be covered. - Inspirational Performances (Starts at 6pm): Cap off the day with uplifting music and spoken word performances by select JMM Artists and special guests.
