Jesuit Music Ministry’s (JMM) youngest artist, the Young Voices of the Philippines (YVP), added another honor to its growing list of accolades, bagging the title of “Best Recording by a Child or for Children” at the 36th Awit Awards.

The scholar choir of the Treble Choir Association of the Philippines brought home top honors for “Kalinislinisan”, to the delight of its acclaimed conductor, Dr. Maria Theresa Vizconde Roldan, resident composer, Prof. Jude B. Roldan, and JMM Director Lester Mendiola, who received the prized trophy on behalf of the group, last November 9, Thursday evening at Makati’s Baked Studios.

“I am ecstatic to share the wonderful news that the Young Voices of the Philippines have emerged victorious in the esteemed 36th Awit Awards for Best Recording by a Child and/or Children. It gives me immense pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to my husband, Jude B. Roldan, for his brilliant composition of the music for Kalinislinisan and to Fr. Dennis Santos Soriano for his exceptional lyrics,” expressed an ecstatic Dr. Vizconde-Roldan in a Facebook post.

“I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to PARI, the Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Jesuit Communications, our record label, the Jesuit Music Ministry and Les Mendiola, and all the parents of YVP for their invaluable support throughout this journey,” she added in the same message.

A song dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, “Kalinislinisan” was mixed and mastered by Toto Sorioso. Young Voices of the Philippines (YVP) also received Awit Award nominations for its two other tracks, “Anima Christi” by Jandi Arboleda and Jude B. Roldan, and “I Will Sing Forever” by Fr. Manoling V. Francisco and Jude B. Roldan. All three songs are featured in the album “Mass of Life: A Mass Setting for Children,” which was launched on November 19, 2022, during a mass and mini-concert at The Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao.

With the group’s youthful, exceptional talent shining through on the biggest of stages, JMM Director Lester Mendiola acknowledged all who generously contributed to the latest success of Young Voices of the Philippines.

“We congratulate everyone who had a hand in producing Kalinislinisan. Special thanks goes to the parents and guardians of YVP, our bosses in Jesuit Communications, Fr Emmanuel Alfonso, SJ, and Fr Ro Atilano, SJ, and the entire Jesuit Music Ministry team. +Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,” he commended in a separate Facebook post.

Apart from Young Voices of the Philippines’ milestone win, JMM also extends its congratulations to its other artists for garnering nominations at the 36th Awit Awards.  One of whom was Hangad Music Ministry, which received a prestigious nomination for “Best Vocal Arrangement.” The nominated piece, “All My Life,” features an arrangement by the talented Paulo K Tiról. Meanwhile, “Panata Sa Puso,” performed by Rey Malipot featuring Maan Villanueva, earned a nomination in the “Best Inspirational Recording” category.

The Jesuit Music Ministry celebrates the brilliance and dedication of its talented artists, as they continue to create inspiring and spiritually uplifting music, that resonates with listeners’ hearts and connects them deeper with their faith.
