Inspired by the season of giving, Jesuit Communications (JesCom) and Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM join hands once again to spread Christmas cheer through the Pamaskong Handog social outreach program.
Now in its fourth year, staff from the media arm of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus and the ‘Voice of the Blue Eagle’ will be delivering care packages to selected beneficiaries across Metro Manila, enabling hundreds of families and homes to celebrate a delightful Noche Buena.
Atop the list are the urban poor families from various parish communities under the watch of the Diocese of Novaliches and Caritas Novaliches. Also receiving care packages are the PWDs, special needs individuals aged 8 to 40, and the indigent scholars of the Servants of Charity’s Guanella House. JesCom and RK will then visit the abandoned and infirmed adults belonging to the Missionaries of Charity Brothers House and the Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly, before bringing joy to the old folks of St. Pio Home for the Elderly and GRACES (Golden Action and Reception Center for the Elderly and other Special Cases). A first-time beneficiary of Pamaskong Handog will be The Pawssion Project, a rescue shelter for stray animals in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.
A charitable effort that emerged during the pandemic, it was Pamaskong Handog that propelled JesCom and Radyo Katipunan’s generous donations to several community pantries and parishes, with voluntary assistance from Ateneo de Manila alumni and employees. As the partner institutions continue to put into practice their tenets of solidarity and public service, JesCom and Radyo Katipunan’s commitment to being media organizations “truly with and for others”, remains very much intact.
“Maraming salamat po sa ‘di pagbitaw sa pagtulong. Help us continue this tradition of giving in the years to come,” expressed a grateful Justin Pontino, Radyo Katipunan’s Station Coordinator, at the end of last year’s successful Pamaskong Handog donations that brought 450 food packages to several communities.
With the 2023 Yuletide season in full swing, JesCom and Radyo Katipunan hope that their audiences and supporters be inspired to answer the call to greater Magis, share the faith, and deliver the timeless gift of giving.
