In a much-anticipated announcement, the Philippine Association of the Recording Industry (PARI) unveiled the official list of finalists for the 36th Awit Awards last October 3, 2023. Several talented artists from the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM) received nominations, affirming the official music ministry of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus’ continued commitment to music that touches people’s lives and fosters a deeper connection with the Lord.
One of JMM’s most beloved groups, Hangad Music Ministry, received a prestigious nomination for “Best Vocal Arrangement.” The nominated piece, “All My Life,” features an arrangement by the talented Paulo K Tiról. The song was released on all digital streaming platforms on November 25, 2022.
“Panata Sa Puso,” performed by Rey Malipot featuring Maan Villanueva, earned a nomination in the “Best Inspirational Recording” category. The song’s lyrics are by Fr. Victor Ramos Baltazar, SJ, with music composed by the renowned Fr. Manoling V. Francisco, SJ. “Panata sa Puso” made its launch on digital streaming platforms on March 11, 2022.
Meanwhile, Young Voices of the Philippines demonstrated their youthful, exceptional talent with three nominations in the category of “Best Recording by Child or Children.” The nominated songs include “Anima Christi” by Jandi Arboleda and Jude B. Roldan, “I Will Sing Forever” by Fr. Manoling V. Francisco and Jude B. Roldan, and “Kalinislinisan” by Fr. Dennis Soriano and Jude B. Roldan. These songs are all featured in the album “Mass of Life: A Mass Setting for Children,” which was launched on November 19, 2022, during a mass and mini-concert at The Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao.
The 36th Awit Awards, scheduled for November 9, 2023, at 7 pm, will feature approximately 30 categories that encompass a wide range of music styles, performances, and technical achievements.
JMM’s nominations celebrate the brilliance and dedication of its talented artists, reflecting the ministry’s ongoing commitment to inspiring and spiritually uplifting music.
