“CONNECT: JesCom Fair 2023” held on July 22 at the Gateway Mall 1 Activity Center in Araneta City, Cubao, was a resounding success. The event, organized by Jesuit Communications Foundation (JesCom), brought together visitors and patrons eager to experience the cutting-edge digital initiatives, programs, and products of the renowned Catholic media organization.
The fair’s theme, “Embracing Innovation. Empowering Faith,” underscored JesCom’s commitment to effectively spreading the Word in the digital age while staying true to its mission, vision, thrusts, and values. Throughout the day, visitors immersed themselves in fun and interactive booths, where they engaged with each JesCom unit and had a chance to network and get freebies by participating in digital activities.
JesCom Productions wowed the audience with previews of its beloved programs, including The Word Exposed and Kape’t Pandasal—which announced the inclusion of its newest host, Fr. Fiel Pareja. In addition, the unit’s photobooth gave visitors the chance to take pictures wearing authentic “GomBurZa” costumes, generating much anticipation for the upcoming historical drama film’s release later this year.
The Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM) booth proved to be a crowd favorite with its “Soundtrack of our Faith” sing-along challenge, showcasing its latest album featuring contemporary interpretations of inspirational songs.
Radyo Katipunan (RK) 87.9 FM’s booth offered a unique glimpse into the world of radio hosting, promoting its celebrated program “Keep the Faith: Daily Mass with the Jesuits.” RK’s “Keep the Faith: In a Minute” reels and “Keep the Faith” podcast also garnered widespread interest from visitors.
Another crowd drawer was the first mall show of ‘JOSH Live’, the open mic and live-selling program hosted by the lively duo of Roma Escaner and Rey Malipot. Delighting mallgoers with their stirring vocal performances in the JOSH Live episode were Kelvin Galano, Sky Llorca, and Pinoy Dream Academy’s Laarni Lozada.
The grand launch program, which commenced at 5 pm, was a momentous affair where each JesCom unit presented its latest projects and initiatives. The stage came alive with stellar performances from Hangad Music Ministry, captivating the audience with their soulful renditions of faith-inspired songs. Capping off the launch of “Soundtrack of our Faith” was the sterling “Tungo sa ‘Yo” number by renowned artist Bituin Escalante, who stole the show with her powerful vocals, leaving the crowd awestruck.
A special highlight of the evening was the dazzling fashion show, featuring the debut of the ‘JesCom Tag’ T-Shirt line, together with the release of JesCom’s collection of Tote Bags. Each item showcased selected lyrics from beloved JMM songs, creatively designed to inspire both faith and style.
In his welcome remarks, Fr. Ro Atilano, SJ, Associate Executive Director of JesCom, expressed his gratitude and excitement for CONNECT: “We are very proud and happy to celebrate our faith and the mission of JesCom. We are glad to be in the heart of one of the busiest districts in the Metro, as we believe that God is everywhere. St.Ignatius, the founder of Jesuits, teaches us to find God in all things and to celebrate God in all things. Maraming salamat po sa lahat for being here.”
The fair served as a platform to expand JesCom’s network, foster new collaborations, and strengthen its database, ensuring continued support for future projects. It became evident that “CONNECT: JesCom Fair 2023” resonated deeply with attendees, reinforcing JesCom’s significance in the lives of many.
