Before embarking on their much-anticipated United States Concert Tour, the Young Voices of Philippines (YVP) will perform in a send-off concert for fans and followers this Saturday evening, June 17, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish and Shrine of the Incarnation, Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City.

Entitled “LIPAD”, the concert co-organized by the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM) of the Jesuit Communications Foundation (JesCom) in cooperation with Our Lady of Annunciation Parish & Shrine of the Incarnation, aims to give a grand farewell to JMM’s youngest artists as they prepare for an exciting journey across five states, including stops at New York, Maryland, Washington DC, California, and Oregon.

First on the itinerary of Young Voices of Philippines will be the Voices Together: International Youth Choral Symposium from July 1 to 3. As representatives of the country, the scholar choir of the Treble Choir Association of the Philippines will showcase Philippine music and present its choral curriculum at the University of Maryland—capped off by a performance at the Clarice Smith Auditorium.

July 7 will be a date to remember for Young Voices of the Philippines, as they are set to perform in New York City at the prestigious Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium. Joining them atop the historic concert hall’s Ronald O. Perelman Stage will be the Toronto Children’s Chorus, Children’s Chorus of Washington, and the Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir. Highlighting YVP’s New York visit is the world premiere of resident composer and arranger, Jude B. Roldan’s Missa Virtutum.

Rounding out Young Voices of the Philippines’ stateside tour will be a trip out west, for the 12th Golden Gate International Children’s Choral Festival from July 9–15.

For Dr. Maria Theresa Vizconde-Roldan, YVP’s longtime conductor, her choir’s upcoming international stint promises many memorable moments for its young members, all waiting to relish the experience after their LIPAD concert.

“You are with us and our country, the Philippines, in our journey toward our dream and success. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity given to our children to showcase our Philippine music before an international audience at one of the world’s most prestigious concert halls is a great blessing to all of us,” she shared in a message to JesCom.

As she calls for more support for her youthful singers and Philippine choral music, Dr. Maria Theresa Vizconde-Roldan also humbly asks for the public’s heartfelt prayers as her choristers prepare for LIPAD and their US tour.

“Please include us in your prayers. Thank you very much for your generosity and support.”
