Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM, the Ateneo de Manila University’s official campus radio station, shifts into high gear as it celebrates its fifth anniversary with a year-long celebration entitled, “Overdrive”.
Beginning February 13, 2023, the “Voice of the Blue Eagle” looks back on its many accomplishments over the past five years, as it gears up for an exciting journey ahead filled with awesome surprises and new beginnings.
Atop the list of exciting developments is the return of its hosts and guests to the new-look Radyo Katipunan studio. After three years of remote broadcasts, the station is ready to welcome back students, faculty, staff and visitors for engaging and insightful conversations, live and on-air.
Greeting audiences with an upbeat, energetic tune is Radyo Katipunan’s new station ID, which made its debut Monday evening. The rock-inspired version of the song, also available on digital streaming platforms, comes with a brand-new music video that features the station’s hosts and various scenes on campus.
In addition, Radyo Katipunan’s most celebrated program, “Keep the Faith: Daily Mass for Hope and Healing”, will soon have a permanent home at the new JesCom Creative Studio. The Creative Studio will also serve as a multipurpose venue for more Radyo Katipunan programs, filming and recording, and other production purposes.
Since its soft launch last February 2018, Radyo Katipunan has become a platform for truthful communication, public service and values-enriched programming. Its five principal goals of Information, Instruction, Insight, Inspiration and Identity have remained at the very core of its productions and cemented its status as the leading media voice of the Ateneo community.
At the height of the pandemic, Radyo Katipunan emerged as the virtual stage for university-wide gatherings and many other notable events by partners of the university’s mission. In the spirit of magis, Radyo Katipunan made its mark as a station truly “with and for others” by supporting several community pantries and bringing Christmas cheer to hundreds of families with its annual “Pamaskong Handog” outreach project.
As Radyo Katipunan turns a new chapter in its remarkable half-decade run, expect a year-long celebration of many more milestones and triumphs in this exciting “drive to five”.
