In the latest episode of “Walking with Ignatius”, streamed via the Jesuits Global YouTube channel, Father Arturo Sosa, SJ highlighted the integral role of education in communicating authentic love.
“To educate is to reverentially love the person in front of me, respecting his or her dignity and ensuring that his or her life acquires the necessary tools to enhance the goodness that dwell within him or her,” began the Society of Jesus Superior General in his 10th monthly video message for the Ignatian Year.
Thanking the contributions of collaborators, both lay and religious alike, who support the Jesuit mission of building more just and humane societies through harnessing the power of education, Fr. Sosa expressed the ultimate goal of forming men and women with and for others.
“We wish to collaborate in the formation of persons of integrity, who develop their particular gifts and talents and place them generously at the service of others; persons who are sensitive to reality and capable of discerning what is most conducive to the good of themselves and others.”
To conclude his message, Fr. Sosa encouraged audiences to collaborate with Jesuits institutions and educational activities around the world, with a special focus on the poor and marginalized.
“The challenge is enormous, but by adding generous hearts we can give more and more people access to the quality education they deserve. Would you dare commit your talents to it?”
