Jesuit Communications (JesCom) invites the faithful to “The Word Exposed’s 2022 Lenten Recollection: Sow Seeds of Goodness”, led by H.E. Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, on April 12, Holy Tuesday at 8 pm (Philippine Standard Time).

Streaming live via the JesCom and Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM social media pages, the annual recollection of the Cardinal’s beloved Sunday scripture reflection program will center on Pope Francis’ Lenten message for 2022- an invitation to “sow seeds of goodness”, that we might reap a harvest of salvation for both ourselves and others.

Drawing inspiration from St Paul’s Letter to the Galatians (6:9-10), the Holy Father underscores that

“Lent invites us to conversion, to a change in mindset, so that life’s truth and beauty may be found not so much in possessing as in giving, not so much in accumulating as in sowing and sharing goodness.”

During this period of fasting, abstinence, and penance, Pope Francis goes on to remind us that “we are called to respond to God’s gift” that it might “bear fruit in our lives”. As we strive to become His co-workers of goodness, we, in turn, share in God’s “bountiful goodness”.

Through our constant practice of goodness and kindness, the Holy Father outlines how “sowing goodness for the benefit of others frees us from narrow self-interest, infuses us our actions with gratuitousness, and makes us part of the magnificent horizon of God’s benevolent plan.”

Still using the imagery of gardening, Pope Francis explains that “the soil is prepared by fasting, watered by prayer, and enriched by charity,” calling upon us to “believe firmly that ‘if we do not give up, we shall reap our harvest in due time,’ and that, with the gift of perseverance, we shall obtain what was promised, for our salvation and the salvation of others.”

Since being named as Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, has continued his world-recognized charismatic, down-to-earth and sincere brand of preaching, all the way from Rome.

Made possible through the determined efforts of the JesCom production team and Cardinal Tagle’s steadfast commitment to media evangelization, The Word Exposed continues to air on ANC in the Philippines, ICatholicTV and Catholic Faith Network in the USA, Salt and Light in Canada, and Shalom World TV in Australia.
