Jesuit Music Ministry’s (JMM) “Paskong Walang Hanggan” triumphed at the 34th Awit Awards, claiming the title of “Best Christmas Recording” last Monday evening, November 29, 2021.
Performed by rising theater actor and tenor Arman Ferrer, as the first-ever solo recording of the Maestro Ryan Cayabyab composition, “Paskong Walang Hanggan” bested four other nominees to claim the top spot at the ceremony dubbed “Proudly Homegrown”, live-streamed via the Facebook and YouTube pages of the prestigious award-giving body, spearheaded by PARI (Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Inc.)
“Thank you, Awit Awards, for this recognition. It is an honor to receive this prestigious award. This award will serve as an inspiration to create more relevant and beautiful music,” expressed Ferrer on his Facebook profile.
“Thank you, Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and Direk Jose Javier Reyes, for your beautiful music and lyrics, and for trusting me to sing such a heartfelt song. Paskong Walang Hanggan is a masterpiece and a great gift to everyone, especially this Christmas season.”
“Paskong Walang Hanggan” headlines the nine-track JMM album released last November 2020, Christmas Begins, that aims to brighten spirits and spread holiday cheer with beloved classics and inspiring renditions.
“The goal of the album was to give hope and joy to the people especially during the holidays. I’m glad that through our music, we were able to, in our own way, lift the spirits and touch the hearts of many,” recalled Ferrer of the fruitful production experience during the height of the COVID 19 pandemic.
With yet another milestone in his successful partnership under the record label of Jesuit Communications, the multi-talented UP College of Music product extended his wholehearted appreciation for the support of the entire JMM staff.
“To the entire Jesuit Communications team, Father Nono, Lester, Kuya Rey, Bian Orenciana, and everyone, thank you so much for pouring your heart and soul with me when we were completing the “Christmas Begins” album,” wrote Ferrer in the same Facebook post.
“This win is just as much yours, as it is mine. Merry Christmas at maraming salamat po.”
