Three decades after it began transforming generosity into hope, the Tanging Yaman Foundation (TYF) marked its 30th anniversary by honoring the mission partners that have helped sustain its work of serving communities across the Philippines.
Among those recognized during the celebration at The Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan last July 11th was Jesuit Communications (JesCom), whose media evangelization ministry has long shared and stood alongside TYF’s commitment to faith expressed through service.
Founded from the vision inspired by the Tanging Yaman: Himig at Pananalig benefit concerts of acclaimed composer Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ, TYF has grown from a fundraising initiative into a conduit foundation that connects donors with programs supporting education, environmental stewardship, cultural enrichment, humanitarian relief, and community development. Through this noble mission, TYF continues to help Filipinos extend hope and timely assistance to our kababayans most in need.
JesCom was represented at the anniversary celebration by Jesuit Music Ministry Director Lester Mendiola, Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM Station Manager Justin Pontino, and Special Projects and Publications Officer Ms. Editha Sablan. The recognition affirmed JesCom’s place within TYF’s network of mission partners working in diverse apostolates. Among the Foundation’s longstanding partners are Bukas Palad Music Ministry, the Philippine Jesuit Aid Association, Loyola School of Theology, Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan, and the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, each contributing to Tanging Yaman’s mission in its own way.
Reflecting on the recognition, Lester described it as an affirmation of a shared vocation to serve.
“Justin, Ms. Dit, and I were honored to represent Jesuit Communications at the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Tanging Yaman Foundation,” he expressed on social media.
“We are deeply grateful to have been recognized as one of TYF’s mission partners. It is a privilege to journey alongside an organization that has faithfully transformed lives through generosity, hope, and love in action.”
That partnership has recently found another expression through music. To commemorate TYF’s milestone year, the Jesuit Music Ministry also collaborated with the Foundation in curating TYF@30, a Spotify playlist of songs centered on gratitude, hope, service, and God’s abiding love. The collection echoes the same values that have shaped TYF’s work over the past three decades, demonstrating how music can accompany and inspire communities committed to compassionate service.
In its anniversary message, TYF described its 30th year not only as a celebration of lives touched and blessings shared, but also as a reminder that its mission continues. As Tanging Yaman looks ahead, partnerships with ministries such as JesCom remain vital to advancing a common Ignatian vision—one in which faith finds its fullest expression through generosity, collaboration, and humble service.
