From January to May 2025, Jesuit Communications (JesCom) successfully conducted a comprehensive Media Production course for Jesuit scholastics on their First Studies at the Loyola House of Studies.

Spanning one semester, the course equipped the scholastics with essential skills for communicating the Gospel through today’s rapidly evolving media landscape. The course featured several sessions led by JesCom’s experienced staff across various media disciplines.

Creative Director Ms. Pauline Mangilog-Saltarin and Production Manager Ms. Ernestine Tamana, producers of JesCom’s acclaimed feature film GomBurZa, helmed Video Production. They guided students through every step of the creative process—from conceptualization and scriptwriting to basic filming techniques and editing—drawing from their rich experience in award-winning TV, film, and AV production.

Radio and podcast production was facilitated by JesCom Executive Director Fr. Nono Alfonso, SJ, together with Radyo Katipunan’s Station Coordinator Justin Pontino. Fr. Nono shared valuable insights from his decades-long media ministry, emphasizing the power of the spoken word and the importance of Catholic storytelling in modern-day broadcast platforms.

Social media marketing was led by Digital Marketing Manager Ms.Joanna Armenta and Social Media Manager Mr. Idge Mendiola, who covered key areas such as platform fundamentals, content strategy, visual branding, audience engagement, and analytics.

Their sessions provided the Juniors with tools to create effective, mission-driven campaigns that resonate across digital platforms. In addition, JesCom Corporate Communications Associate Mr. Anthony Perez introduced students to clear and impactful writing guidelines and examples.

Through a dynamic mix of lectures, hands-on activities, and group presentations, the scholastics deepened their understanding of media as both a craft and a vocation—one that serves the Church’s mission of evangelization and dialogue with today’s world.

JesCom congratulates the Junior Scholastics for completing the Media Production course and wishes them well in the next stage of their formation.

As future Jesuit leaders and communicators, may they continue to proclaim the Gospel with creativity, clarity, and compassion.
