In just a little over a week after its soft launch, the Ateneo de Manila University’s campus radio station has steadily grown its fan base across the Blue Eagle community, both here and abroad. With its initial lineup of diverse fledgling programs, Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM’s refreshing presence has been a welcome sound to the Atenean’s ear.
The lively discussion of Tats Quiblat of the Loyola Schools Office of Student Activities and Mhir Delos Santos of the Office of Mission and Identity, has brought a new atmosphere of excitement buzzing during the morning rush hour along Katipunan Avenue. From Tuesday to Friday, 9-10am, Tats’ and Mhir’s energetic exchange will surely power you through the rest of your day. Tats also kickstarts Monday mornings, 9-10am, with LEADx – a show on the hottest topics in student activities and leadership, organization life and formation in the Loyola Schools .
Cholo Mallillin of the Loyola Schools Office for Student Services and Chris Castillo of the Loyola Schools Office of the Associate Dean for Student and Administrative Services, are there to spice up your Monday afternoons from 2-3pm with the latest university news and highlights, on Atin Yan! A play on the term “Atenean”, the show varies its discussion themes from week to week: The President’s Hour (Central Admin), Ateneo In and Around (wellness, entreprenuership, community news), Eagles on Spotlight (famous personalities) and Blue Sky (arts, culture, sports, and technology).
True to the Ateneo’s identity as the premier Jesuit institution in the country, airing daily from 11am-12nn is The Jesuit Hour with JesCom Executive Director Fr. Emmanuel Alfonso, SJ. Listen as the veteran host of Radyo Veritas and DZMM’s Usapang Kapatid invites Jesuit priests, religious and lay personalities for engaging and insightful discussions, all in light of Magis, Ignatian Spirituality and Cura Personalis–the heart of being Jesuit.
Remix your playlist on Wednesday afternoons, from 1-2pm, with JMM Radio, the radio program of the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM). Together with interpretation and commentary from Justin Pontino and Lester Mendiola of JesCom, uplift your weary self with soulful and heart-rending original JMM tracks that Ateneans of every generation have come to love and enjoy.
Put some action into your midweek routine and get ready for The Rundown, on Wednesdays, 4-6pm. Follow the teacher-student-alumni combo of Basketball blogger “Mr.Hoopnut” Enzo Flojo of the Ateneo Junior High School and former American Football player Anthony Perez, of JesCom as they serve up your weekly sports fix with all-Ateneo UAAP updates and game reviews, coupled with the latest analysis on the NBA, FIBA and so much more.
Set to premiere this week is the Ateneo Alumni Association’s Return to the Hill (Tuesdays, 5-6pm) where distinguished Ateneans from homecoming jubilarian batches take a trip down memory lane and relive the good ol’ days of their student life: memorable teachers, campus crushes, and the songs of yesteryear. Himig Ateneo, a one-hour live music performance by Ateneo performing organizations, employees, alumni and up-and-coming talents goes on air on Thursday, 2-3pm. Also in the works for the Radyo Katipunan line-up is a show hosted by the Loyola Schools’ Office of Campus Ministry scheduled for Tuesdays, 2-3pm.
